In just a couple of days a Nashville hot chicken joint, King of the Coop, is making its way to Seminole Heights. If you have been to the Soul Food Street Kitchen restaurant at Armature Works, this name may sound familiar.
The famous King of the Coop chicken sandwich became an iconic menu item for Soul Food Street Kitchen and it is what inspired the owner, Joe Dodd’s most recent concept. The planning process for this concept began this past February when Joe Dodd acknowledged the high demand for the chicken sandwich any time he showed up to a food truck rally.
King of the Coop will be a 1,000 square-foot restaurant and will be able to seat 20 people. It will be close by another new restaurant on the scene, Florida Avenue Eats. There will also be backyard space with picnic tables that the two restaurants will share where more people can enjoy the delicious food.
Lunch and dinner will consist of dining options like loaded fries, mac n’ cheese, jalapeño-cheeder hush puppies with pimento cheese, creamed collard greens, and much more wholesome decisions. There is also talk of Sunday brunch currently in the works for the near future!
Joe Dodd’s overall mission is to create a space with delicious food everyone in Florida will love, in a relaxed and comfortable setting- nothing too trendy or fancy feeling.
The King of the Coop chicken joint will be open seven days a week, Sunday through Thursday from 11am-pm and on Friday and Saturday from 11am-midnight.
The soft opening to the public will be on Wednesday, April 17th. You won’t want to miss out on this new spot!
