First Look at New Disney Cruise

    Disney announces a new cruise ship and island destination at the D23 Expo 2019.

    Over the weekend, Disney announced a new cruise ship and island destination coming to their cruise line at the D23 Expo. Disney Wish, the highly anticipated fifth cruise ship’s name was officially revealed along with the character who will be showcased on the ship’s stern.

    Everyone’s favorite artsy princess, Rapunzel, will be featured on the ship’s stern joined by her sidekick pascal. “Spirited, smart, curious and above all, adventurous, Rapunzel embodies the wish and desire to see and experience the world,” the Disney press release stated.

    The new ship will set sail in January of 2022, joining the award-winning fleet of the Disney Cruise Line.

    A new tropical destination was also announced for the Disney Cruise Line. Currently, Disney’s private island Castaway Cay in the Bahamas destination for the cruise line. However, Disney is now working on putting together a second destination. Located on the beautiful island of Eleuthera, Disney purchased Lighthouse Point. The goal with this new destination is to celebrate the natural environment of The Bahamas while incorporating the magic Disney always brings.

    Construction will start in 2020, with possible completion in later 2022 or 2023.
