After the Seminoles were removed from this area, it was resettled in the 1880s and a stagecoach railway station was built here. During this time small towns sprang up and most of them were lumber towns. The area had slow but steady growth and by the 1990s, grow sped up quickly. It is interesting to note that it was not until 1975 that the city’s only high school was built.
